Marquise Engagement Rings

Marquise diamonds, also fondly known as the football-shaped or boat-shaped diamond, are modified brilliant cuts with 58 facets. Marquise cut diamonds are called "Navette" diamonds which means "little ship" when translated to French (the language of the country where it originated). Please note all styles (with the exception of complete engagement rings) featured in this category are priced without the center diamond. We will work with you one-on-one to find the perfect marquise shape center diamond for the mounting you select based on your color and clarity preferences.

Marquise cut diamond engagement rings are the shape worn by celebrities like Ashley Simpson, Victoria Beckham and Catherine Zeta Jones. The marquise cut dates back to the 18th century, and it is said that King Louis XV of France commissioned a jeweler to create a diamond shape that resembled the lips of his mistress, "Marquise de Pompadour", Jean Antoinette Poisson. The name "Marquise" refers to the rank above a Count but below a Duke, and pays homage to the courtiers that wore marquise cut diamonds to showcase their rank.
