Appraisals

Moyer Fine Jewelers has two full-time GIA (Gemological Institute of America) Graduate Gemologists to appraise your jewelry for insurance purposes or fair market value. Our GIA jewelry appraisal fee is $95 per piece, and an appointment is not necessary unless you would like to receive an appraisal while you wait. The while-you-wait service may be subject to an additional fee.

An insurance appraisal details the retail replacement value of your piece in the event it is lost, damaged or stolen and needs to be replaced. It’s important to have your items re-appraised every few years to keep the retail replacement value current. Ideal times to re-appraise or update appraisal paperwork are during a relocation or move, during a life change such as marriage, divorce, etc., or when you change insurance policies. We are also accustomed to preparing appraisals for estate liquidation, will and/or trust preparation, donations, etc.

A written appraisal is not needed for us to estimate a purchase value. If you are interested in selling your piece(s), we can give you a verbal appraisal and offer if we choose to purchase.

For certified jewelry appraisal, we require appropriate time to access, measure and document your jewelry piece. Please bring your jewelry items into the store to receive an exact time frame. For any additional questions, please call our store or reach out to our appraiser, Beth, at beth@moyerfj.com.
