Store Policies & Customer Service

Where are you located? Is there only one location?

We are located at 14727 Thatcher Lane in Carmel, Indiana. Our store is on the Carmel, Westfield border, and we are happy to serve both of those communities and other surrounding areas. We have a single location which is owned and operated by Dan Moyer, the founder of Moyer Fine Jewelers. Moyer is proud to be a local, family-owned jeweler since 1979.

do you offer warranties or guarantees on your jewelry?

We stand behind the quality of our jewelry, and we are extremely customer centric. If we determine there was an issue with the manufacturing of the piece which lead to the issue, we will make it right free of charge. Some of our pieces also come with a manufacturer’s warranty for added peace of mind. However, normal wear and tear is not covered or warrantied, and you will incur a charge for those repairs.

We always provide you with an appraisal of your piece of fine jewelry or engagement ring. We highly recommend insuring it through your homeowners or renters insurance or through a trusted jewelry insurance provider like Jewelers Mutual. This protects you in the event of a center stone being lost or chipped, a piece being stolen or lost, etc.

Plus, we proudly offer our Diamond Upgrade Guarantee: If you purchased your diamond or diamond studs from Moyer and ever decide to upgrade, we’ll give you what you originally paid toward a diamond of greater value. There are no limits on size or price. Please note: This guarantee may be void if the diamond(s) have been damaged or compromised due to wear since the original sale or if the current market prices are vastly different from when you originally purchased the piece.

what is your return or exchange policy?

We want you to love your purchase. Engagement rings, special orders and custom pieces are final sale, but many in-stock fine jewelry items can be returned or exchanged within 14 days, unworn and in original condition. Ask us for details when you make your purchase.

Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?

Both are welcome! Walk-ins receive a warm welcome anytime. For personalized service—especially custom design or diamond consultations—we recommend booking an appointment to ensure you get our full attention. And if you’d like to work with a specific sales associate, scheduling ahead is the best way to guarantee their availability. We may also recommend an appointment if you are selling your jewelry to us, and have more than 5 pieces that need to be evaluated. For questions, please give us a call at 317.844.9003!

Engagement Rings

What's the difference between lab-grown & natural diamonds?

Great question—and an important one. While lab-grown and natural diamonds may look similar to the untrained, naked eye, they’re very different in how they’re made, what they’re worth, and what they represent. Natural diamonds are formed deep within the Earth over billions of years through intense heat and pressure. Every natural diamond is completely unique, a rare product of time and nature that carries inherent value, rarity, and symbolism. Because of their limited supply and natural formation, they hold their value over time. Lab-grown diamonds, on the other hand, are created in a lab in a matter of weeks. They have the same chemical makeup as natural diamonds, but they lack rarity. They can be produced endlessly, driving their value down drastically. Today, lab-grown diamonds are made at a very low cost to retailers and sold for extremely high margin. Most importantly, they don’t carry the same lasting meaning or natural legacy.

At Moyer, we proudly offer only natural diamonds. Why? Because we are a fine jeweler who believes in only selling Mother Nature’s best - natural diamonds. We strongly believe in giving our client value in the products that we provide which can only be done selling natural diamonds. We believe an engagement ring should reflect something real, rare, and enduring—just like your love story. When you choose a natural diamond from Moyer, you're choosing authenticity, beauty, value, and tradition—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

can you explain the 4c's (cut, color, clarity, carat)?

The 4Cs are the global standard for assessing a diamond’s quality by grading it according to Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat Weight. Approximately 99% of the diamonds we sell at Moyer are independently certified and graded by the Gemological Institute of America, or GIA, the world’s foremost authority on diamond grading.

  1. Cut: How well the diamond is shaped and faceted. This affects brilliance the most—so we’re very picky here, only selling diamonds that have an “Excellent” or “Very Good” cut grade. We will not sell diamonds that fall within the other categories as they don’t meet our quality standards and go against our policy of “. There is a misconception that cut means the actual shape of the diamond (i.e. round, oval, etc.) but a cut grade refers to things like the proportion, symmetry and polishing of a diamond. Fun fact: ONLY round brilliant diamonds receive a cut grade.
  2. Color: A scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). Most Moyer diamonds fall in the D-J range, and we are very discerning when it comes to our diamonds that fall within the near colorless category, making sure they are the best of their category.
  3. Clarity: The presence (or absence) of internal or surface inclusions. We sell diamonds that range from VVS1 to I1, guaranteeing that our I1 diamonds are among the “best” in that category with ideal inclusion placement and coloring. Most of the time, our diamonds fall into what we call “eye-clean” which means that you can’t spot an inclusion with your naked eye, and it is only visible through magnification.
  4. Carat: The diamond’s weight. BUT we always like to educate our clients on the importance of measurements and making sure that your diamond has the proper dimensions for a diamond of its carat weight! We do our due diligence to make sure that our diamonds are properly cut – not too shallow and not too deep. In laymen’s terms, we are basically making sure that if you purchase a 1.00ct diamond, it actually measures and LOOKS like a 1.00ct diamond rather than a 0.90ct diamond because of its measurements.

Where do your diamonds come from? ARe they ethically sourced?

Yes—they absolutely are. At Moyer, we’re committed to offering only ethically sourced, conflict-free natural diamonds. We work exclusively with trusted, transparent suppliers who comply with the Kimberley Process which works to unite administrations, civil societies and industry in ensuring responsible trade of natural diamonds.

GIA’s grading process includes strict ethical standards, and our diamonds are also sourced in accordance with the Kimberley Process, which works to eliminate conflict diamonds from the global supply chain. For those looking for even more transparency, GIA’s Diamond Origin Report traces a diamond’s geographic origin—providing added confidence that your diamond was sourced responsibly and supports the communities it comes from. And of course, every loose diamond at Moyer is hand-selected by our in-house GIA Graduate Gemologist, ensuring both quality and integrity. You’re in the best hands.

What are the most popular engagement ring styles right now?

Today’s brides are loving fancy-shaped diamonds like oval, emerald, radiant, and cushion cuts. Many are choosing to put most of their budget into a larger center stone, paired with a clean, classic solitaire setting that highlights the diamond’s natural beauty. We’re also seeing a strong preference for yellow gold, along with interest in hidden halos and vintage-inspired designs. Of course, classic styles like round brilliant solitaires and timeless pavé bands remain favorites. Whether you’re drawn to something sleek and modern or prefer a more traditional look, our team will help you explore every option and find the style that feels like you.

Do you sell gia certified diamonds?

Absolutely! Approximately 99% of our natural loose diamonds are GIA-certified. This third-party certification guarantees complete transparency and helps you understand exactly what you’re buying. Combine that with our in-house scrutiny, and you have a diamond you can trust is quality.

What are the latest trends in engagement ring styles?

Right now, brides are loving the "fancy shape" diamonds- emerald cut, oval shape, radiant cut, etc. Whatever shape they choose, most brides are opting for a large diamond (spending most of their budget on the center stone) paired with a very classic solitaire mounting. We can walk you through all of the options in our store!

What is a reasonable budget for an engagement ring? What's the best way to stay within budget?

A budget can only be decided by you! You can take into account how much you make, your discretionary income, etc. to find the right amount for you! We do offer financing through Wells Fargo for couples that are interested. We recommend doing the 12 month, special financing with approved credit option! When you decide what you're comfortable budgeting for the ring, we can show you a variety of options ranging from $1995 to several hundred thousand dollars. We pride ourselves on the breadth of our selection.

We want to help you stay within your budget! Start by telling us what’s important to you—size, shape, setting, metal. Then we’ll guide you toward the best possible options that align with your priorities and your budget. We love helping clients maximize value without compromise. You’ll leave here with confidence and a ring that feels just right.

how do i insure my engagement ring?

When you purchase your engagement ring, your sales associate will give you an appraisal detailing the diamond specifications, mounting specifications and full retail replacement value. You should speak to your insurance provider about putting your engagement ring under your homeowners or renters policy. You can also go through specialized jewelry insurers like Chubb or Jewelers Mutual.

Does Moyer Provide an Engagement Ring Lifetime Warranty?

Some jewelers tout a comprehensive "lifetime warranty" that covers the ring and center stone in the event of a loss or damage. Most of those internal policies require you to visit every 6 months for check-ups or the warranty becomes null and void. If you miss said check-up, even by a day, the warranty can become null and void. At Moyer, we stand behind the quality of the engagement rings we sell. If we believe a diamond has fallen out of the mounting or needs repair due to manufacturer's defects, we will happily repair the ring at no charge. We don't require 6-month check-ins, but instead welcome you at any time to let us inspect your ring. We do provide complementary insurance appraisals which you can put on your homeowners or renters policy to cover any loss, damage or theft.

Can I reset a family stone or diamond into a new setting?

Yes, we can set a gemstone or a natural diamond you already have into one of our engagement ring settings. However, we have made it a policy to not set lab grown diamonds into our engagement rings or jewelry. So the answer is yes, unless it's lab grown.

Giving an heirloom a fresh new life is one of our specialties. We’ll help you create something new while honoring the original sentiment. We can also inspect the stone to make sure it’s in top shape before re-setting.

Repair & Services

Do you repair jewelry in-house? how long does it typically take?

Yes! Our skilled jewelers with decades of experience work on-site, so your treasured pieces stay safely in our care throughout the repair process. In some cases, if specialized work is needed, certain jewelry or watches may be sent to the original vendor. Your sales associate will guide you every step of the way and assist with any repair needs. Your piece is also fully insured and safely stored while in our care. Rest easy knowing your piece is in secure, expert hands.

Most standard repairs (like prong tightening or ring sizing) take about 7-10 days. More complex work might take longer, but we’ll always give you a clear, realistic timeline upfront.

Can you resize my ring? and how much will it cost?

Absolutely. Whether it’s a little snug or too loose, we can size your ring for a perfect fit.

We request to quote the piece in-person as there are many factors that go into determining the cost of the sizing such as metal type, ring width, the amount we’re taking the ring up or down size wise, the number of diamonds or gemstones, etc. When we take the piece in, we also try to assess if any additional work needs to be done with the ring. It’s important to us that when we do a repair, we are making sure that every aspect of the ring’s integrity is up to our standards. We can usually provide you with an on-the-spot price for your sizing while you wait.

do you offer watch battery replacements or servicing?

We sure do! We offer battery replacements, band adjustments, and servicing. On some watch models, we replace batteries while you wait, and we don’t charge for the battery or labor—instead, we invite you to make a donation to our charity program. Moyer distributes all donations to carefully selected local charities throughout the year, helping us support and positively impact our community. Please note, if we change your watch battery in-house, we cannot guarantee water resistance.

For fine quartz watches, we will ask that you send it to our manufacturing facility to have it professionally changed by a certified watchmaker who can guarantee the water seal. That service is $95 usually but $125 for chronograph watch models.

For automatic watches that need a service, we can either send your watch back to the original dealer to ensure expert care and protect your warranty or send it to our certified watchmaking facility that is capable of most repairs. Moyer distributes all donations to carefully selected local charities throughout the year, helping us support and positively impact our community.

Moyer does have a $50 shipping and insurance fee that will be charged to all watches not purchased from Moyer or under warranty that need to be sent to our service center. You will receive an estimate of the work needed to your watch, and at that point you can either proceed or decline the service. The $50 will not be credited regardless of if the work was done or declined. For specific questions, please reach out to a member of our team at 317.844.9003.

Do you repair watches in-house?

Besides watch battery replacements, we do not complete any watch services in-house. We have the option of sending your watch for service to either the brand or to our certified watchmaking facility. Any repairs to the watch's movement will be completed at one of those service centers. For specific questions, please reach out to our store at 317.844.9003.

do you size watch bracelets or replace straps?
