2016 marks the 100^th running of the greatest spectacle in racing and largest sporting event in the world, the Indianapolis 500. The movement is automatic rather than quartz, TAG Heuer is using an in-house movement (Calibre Heuer 01), the watch has an exhibition case-back and the watch is part of the Carrera collection rather than the Formula 1. All of these features set this year’s Indianapolis 500 timepiece apart from any others in the past. This Carrera Indy 500 watch features the newly released Heuer 01 caliber. The Heuer 01 caliber is the only 100% Manufacture Chronograph for less than $5,300. The 45mm case of the watch is has an edgy combination of stainless steel and titanium carbide coated steel. For the first thirty seconds when the chronograph is activated the sub-dial at 6 o’clock will race through a full rotation per second in front of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway logo. The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Indy 500 watch comes with a NATO strap option to change up the style and give it a more casual appeal. This case size is a nice size at 43mm in stainless steel case.
